Andlighet för katolska män

catholicgentleman”Be a man – be a saint!”

More than ever, the Church needs men.

Sadly, many Catholic men have believed the lie that being holy isn’t manly, and that the faith is boring. They leave religion to women and children and simply tune out. But holiness is for men.

There is nothing more difficult, rewarding, or manly than becoming a saint.

The spiritual life is full of combat, struggle, hardship, and adventure. It requires blood, sweat, tears, perseverance, and courage. It isn’t for the faint of heart.

Catholic men are called to leave mediocrity behind and to strive for greatness.

The Catholic Gentleman exists to inspire men to holiness—to love God, to serve others, and to deny self. And to do it all with class and classic manly flair.

Hi, my name is Sam Guzman, and I’m the founder and editor of the Catholic Gentleman. I’m the husband of a beautiful woman, and the father of two small boys. I live in the Milwaukee area of Wisconsin, the beer capital of the USA (we also have pretty good cheese), and by day, I am the Communications Director for Pro-Life Wisconsin.

I’m a writer and blogger, and my work has been published in The Christian Science Monitor, Catholic Exchange, Aleteia, Truth and Charity Forum, One Peter Five, and a number of faith based blogs. I am currently working on my first book.

Above all, I am a Catholic, and I strive to be a faithful son of the Church. My purpose in life is to be a saint. Through loving and total consecration to the Immaculate Virgin Mary, I seek to be formed into the image of Jesus Christ.

I also happen to:

shave with an old fashioned safety razor

smoke a pipe

love a good stout

have been known to write poetry

am an amateur bibliophile

love leather

own three antique typewriters

occasionally collect fountain pens

attend the Latin mass

I’d love to hear from you and learn more about your journey. Please send me an email any time with your questions and feedback.

Pater Joseph Maria Nilsson OFMConv
